Worst Son

Worst Son is a psychological single-player game, made for the Scream Jam 2025. Everything, except some parts of the furniture, was created in one week.

At 20, the protagonist graduated from university and started working at a real estate company. Life was stable, and his income was good — until one day his mother was diagnosed with a rare and severe illness.

She had no one but her son, while other relatives refused to help due to her mental instability. The son supported her as best as he could, spending nearly all of his salary on her treatment. Because of financial strain, he took out a loan. After a year of treatment, his mother’s suicidal thoughts worsened. She begged her son to end her life to stop the suffering. He refused, and they had a violent argument. In despair, she screamed across the hospital ward that she would end her own life and cursed him to “burn in hell” for her pain.

He ignored her words, thinking she would calm down. But a week later, she committed suicide — stabbing her own throat with a spoon about 5 cm deep before going to bed. After her death, the son fell into deep depression, consumed by guilt and forced to repay the medical debt.
